Is fullmetal alchemist brotherhood depressing like the first one?

Brotherhood adds more humor to lighten it up, but the tend to stick with the seriousness, more towards the ending. But yes, it's depress-I mean, losing your arm and leg and binding your younger brother's soul to armor after attempting to bring back your dead mother is TOTALLY not sad at all!
